A Turkish criminal court in southeastern Turkey ruled that displaying the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) flag didn't qualify as propaganda for the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), dubbed a terrorist organization by Ankara. The court noted that the KRG was recognized as a federal state in the Iraqi constitution, and should therefore be distinguished from any terrorist activity.
Iraqi President Barham Salih said on July 8 that neighboring Turkey must suspend its recent offensive against alleged Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) positions in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region and disputed territories of Iraq. Salih “reiterated that Turkey has to suspend its military violations on the Iraqi soil."

KRG President Nechirvan Barzani and Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met on May 30 with Maj. Gen. Eric Hill, commander of Coalition's Special Operations Forces to defeat ISIS in Iraq and Syria. Hill pointed out that the KRG is an important partner of the United States and Coalition Forces in the fight against ISIS.
PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan has said that no one should build their future plans over him during a phone call with his brother Mehmet Öcalan while commenting on a recent rift between the PKK and the KRG. "Kurds need to solve their problems via dialogue. Those who can manage this are the Barzani and Talabani families and our friends in Qandil," he said.
HDP co-chairs Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar have called on Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) President Nechirvan Barzani to protect the people of Makhmur, following the recent escalation of tensions that stemmed from airstrikes in the area. "The people of Makhmur are also your people," they said in the letter dated April 19.
Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has sent coronavirus test kits to southeastern Syria to help the Syrian Kurds in the fight against the highly contagious virus. "Utmost thanks and appreciation to the President of Kurdistan Region, Mr. Nechirvan Barzani," Mazloum Abdi, commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), tweeted on April 12.
Germany's leftwing political party Die Linke and the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation (RLS) have hosted a conference on the Kurdish issue in the German Bundestag on March 6, with the participants discussing "the current opportunities and perspectives" with regards to the solution of the Kurdish issue in the Middle East in several panels. From Turkey, CHP Istanbul deputy Sezgin Tanrıkulu and HDP co-chair Mithat Sancar attended the conference.
