Turkey's Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects Chambers (TMMOB) has said that some 14 parcels on the Middle East Technical University (ODTÜ) land near the university masjid (prayer room for Muslims) have been zoned for construction. The architects urged the university administration to clarify the parcels' allocation and asked whether the land in question will be used for a mosque construction.
Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu submitted an official complaint against President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's Kanal Istanbul project. The artificial canal project would split Turkey's European land in half, and has been criticized for severe environmental risks.
Turkey’s Ministry of Environment and Urban planning has approved a zoning project for a large patch of land that lies in a protected area in the district of Kaş. A huge fire erupted in Kaş' Çukurbağ peninsula last month burning down a large area of forestland and olive trees.
