Islamist TV commentator Sevda Noyan who had claimed her family would kill 50 plotters if a coup attempt was ever repeated is facing three to six years in prison. Noyan had said that she had neighbors she'd deemed plotters and even a list of people she'd target.
Turkey’s media watchdog has penalized a program on the pro-government Ülke TV with a three-time broadcast cancellation over on-air comments of an Islamist TV commentator that her family would be able to “take out at least 50 [coup supporters]” if another coup attempt were to occur.
A member of Turkey’s media watchdog council said that the ruling Justice and Development Party’s (AKP) attempts at manipulating the news cycle no longer worked. The councilman noted that Ankara’s media outlets are ineffective as there is a dramatic gap between their narrative and the reality of the citizens’ lives.

"If a penalty will be given, it should not be one that makes coup lovers and praisers happy," Şahin said. "We're not in a position to sentence the statements made against those who praise a coup," he added.
Sevda Noyan, an Islamist TV commentator, has said that her family has the "financial and spiritual" means to kill 50 people if a new coup is attempted in Turkey. "Our family has a capability of taking [executing] 50 people. We are very prepared regarding this – both financially and spiritually. We stand by our leader [President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan],” Noyan said during a TV program aired on the pro-government channel Ülke TV.
