A store owner in western Turkey was fined 900 Turkish Liras for kicking a street cat. The man said he kicked the cat because it stole cold meat from his store.
Turkey's top banking authority received 33 percent more complaints in 2019, compared to the previous year. While majority of grievances were about personal loans, the second biggest topic of issues were debit and credit cards.
A recent draft bill by a group of deputies from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) suggested increasing the cap on after-hour alcohol sale fines by three-fold. The drafted bill would allow sale of alcohol after 10 p.m. to be fined up to 320,000 liras.
The southeastern province of Gaziantep once again received almost half of all fines issued nationwide for violating the weekend curfew. A total of 5,108 fines were issued to individuals during the curfew, while 16 businesses were fined for operating during the curfew.
